Dogs Past

These are dogs that have played an important part in the history of Raigmore. Some won top awards in the show ring, some have won top awards at field trials or worked well on shooting days.  Some have done neither.

But all have played their part!

Pointers Past

Nethergrange Vals Choice (Rio)

Our first Pointer.

Rio came to our kennel at 13 months old from his breeder, Ian Welsh. He was by Braz Ch & Sh Ch Crookrise Rio out of Nethergrange Carmen. He was very boisterous to show but his outstanding temperament is the reason we fell in love with Pointers and still have them today. His show wins gained his entry in the Stud Book.

Rhuboddach Winter Morn (Poppy)

Poppy came to us from our good friends Christine & Raymond Skinner. She was by Lebry Maverick out of Sh Ch Cumbrian Donna. She won well at Championship and Open Shows and subsequently became the foundation for our kennel.

Raigmore Achillea (Pebble) JW

(2 Challenge Certificates)

When the time came for us to mate Poppy we decided to use Bongazaan Khamsin as his lines tied in with hers. It was late January and after producing 6 pups, Poppy seemed to have finished. We let her out to relieve herself and suddenly there was another black & white bundle squeaking in the snow - that was Pebble!

Pebble loved showing and I'm sure it was this that gave her that extra sparkle in the ring. She started her show career at 6 months by winning best Pointer Puppy at the Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show. And she never looked back. She continued to win many first prizes at Open and Championship Shows, gaining her Junior Warrant. She had dozens of Best Gundogs and Best in Shows at Open Shows as well.

The highlight of her career came at the Pointer Club Championship Show where she took the Bitch Challenge Certificate under Frank Kane, followed by Best in Show in agreement with his co-judge Dr Ron James. We floated home to Scotland that night!

She subsequently won a further C.C. and Best of Breed at the Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show under Janet Richards

She took time out to have a litter by Sh Ch Traigmhor Thyme and produced Raigmore Echo.

Sadly we lost Pebble at too early an age but her excellent temperament and her love of showing will always be with us.

Lebry Orange Blossom at Raigmore (Blossom)

Blossom arrived at Raigmore at 12 months of age. She was very nervous when she arrived but she gradually gained her confidence again and, in fact, became very cheeky. We took one litter from her by Crookrise Salute and produced Raigmore Breeze. Unfortunately she died shortly after being spayed at the age of 5 - a big loss!

Raigmore Breeze (Breeze)

Breeze was an exuberant character and like Pebble loved showing. She won well at Championship Shows, gaining her entry in the Stud Book.

Raigmore Echo (Echo)

Echo was only shown lightly due to work commitments and having produced Raigmore Firecrest has now retired to live with my mother.

Sadly Echo was put to sleep at the age of 13.

Spinningloch Kismet (Kizzy)

Sire: Lochenkit Aureoline         Dam: Spinningloch Daffodil

Kizzy was the first Pointer from working lines that we have owned. She came from our good friend Tricia Wood's Spinningloch Kennels. I think Kizzy taught John as much about Field Trials as he taught her and he was delighted when she gained her Stud Book entry by winning Scottish Gundog Association's Novice Stake  She subsequently became a great part of the shooting team.

Sadly, to save any suffering, Kizzy was put to sleep on 13th November 2003 at the grand age of nearly 14.

Spinningloch Goldfinch (Finch)

Sire: Spinningloch Landloper       Dam:Spinningloch Jiffy

Finch joined us, again from Tricia Wood. She was a really stylish bitch. She also gained her Stud Book entry by winning The Pointer Club of Scotland Novice Stake.

Sadly to save any suffering Finch was put to sleep November 2006 at the age of 13.

Spinningloch Ace (Ace)

Sire: International Field Trial Champion Slieveaorra the Shifter

Dam: Spinningloch Flycatcher

Sadly Ace died just short of his 12th birthday

Cockers Past

Cockers were my first love from an early age. My first dog, Garry, (Levengrove Principal Boy) was not the best show quality but he had an outstanding character.

Other show Cockers at Raigmore were:

His sister, Levengrove Leading Lady (Penny)

Her daughter by Glencora Moonraker, Raigmore Stargazer (Pippa)

Her daughter by Sh Ch Normanview Thundercloud, Raigmore Blue Stratos (Emma)

Emma's son by Sh Ch Normanview Scots Grey, Raigmore True Grit (Barney)

Levengrove Little Star (Katy)

We now no longer breed Cockers from show lines having decided to concentrate on the working side.
